2000 Tickets are left!

According to Kevin Iole on his twitter, after only one day of sales the tickets of the Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 for the November 12th bout between World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion and WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KO’s) are almost completely sold out. After the first day for the fight at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The sales tells you how much of a star the 37-year-old Marquez is, because Pacquiao’s fights usually don’t sell at such a rapid pace. However, Marquez is a lot better than the guys that have been fed to Pacquiao in the past three years. Although he’s nearing 40 like Pacquiao’s last opponent Shane Mosley, Marquez can still fight and is probably at around 75% of his prime.

Whether that’s good enough to beat Pacquiao it’s hard to say. Frankly, I think the weight will end up beating Marquez more than anything. Pacquiao and his team weren’t exactly generous when it came to giving the smaller 135 pound Marquez much of a catch weight to operate at. The fight will take place at 144, just three pounds under the upper limit of the welterweight division. That means that Marquez is likely going to be fighting a much bigger Pacquiao, who is used to fighting at this weight. Marquez has only fought over 140 once in his career and looked slow, fat and weak in his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2009. Marquez turns 38 next month. He recently beat little known southpaw Likar Ramos by a 1st round knockout last weekend in something of a joke of a fight. Ramos went down with a weak right to the head and stayed down. If that was supposed to get boxing fans interested in seeing Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3, I think it had the opposite affect.

Title Pacquiao has to KO Marquez – Roach

Filipino boxing icon and pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao has to knock out Juan Manuel Marquez, says 4-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach. In an interview with BoxingScene.com, Roach said that Pacquiao needs to win by knockout “100%.”“I’m going to plead with him... ‘Do your job and knock him out and don’t let him off the hook,’” Roach said.Roach had earlier said that he will urge Pacquiao to knock out Marquez so that there will be no doubt as to who is the better fighter. The November 12 bout will be the 3rd between the two fighters. In their first bout in 2004, Pacquiao had knocked Marquez down 3 times in the first round. Yet the Filipino settled for a controversial draw. The rematch in 2008 ended in a close split decision victory for Pacquiao.Because of the questions surrounding the two previous bouts, Roach says that Pacquiao needs to do everything he can to knock out the stubborn Mexican warrior. But Roach is not underestimating Marquez.“He will get ready for Manny and he will fight us,” Roach said. “He won’t go into a shell – like some other people have done in the past.”

Juan Manuel Marquez Knocks Out Likar Ramos

Juan Manuel Marquez knocked out Likar Ramos in the first round with one powerful straight right at the 1:47 mark of the first round of their junior welterweight bout today in Cancun, Mexico. Marquez finished the Colombian boxer with a one right-hand blow that ended their match at 1:47 seconds of round 1. After watching the bout, I can tell that its not a quite good match up after all. Likar Ramos is not even close to Marquez. Before the match, I already knew that Marquez would be the winner. In terms of his (Marquez) skill and intelligence, Likar Ramos has no chance of winning on Marquez.

The result of the Marquez-Ramos fight is quite exciting. Marquez set up the heat against Pacquiao by destroying Likar Ramos via knock out. Will Marquez's power overcome Pacquiao's blazing determination? Is this a warning for Manny Pacquiao to get prepared for their match on November 12th? I guess many fans would love to see how much Marquez had improved for the past years. Would that be enough for him to overcome Pacquiao's expertise? I'm quite excited about the Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 on November 12, 2011. I would love to see these two boxers fight in the of glory. I wish good health for the both of them so that there would be no problems in the upcoming Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 fight!

Pacman named Fighter of the Year

Our Pambansang Kamao–Manny Pacquiao–was named Best Fighter in the annual ESPY Award for the second time.

Pacquiao bested fellow nominees in the Best Fighter category like future hall of famer Bernard Hopkins – the oldest boxer to win a major world title, middleweight king Sergio Martinez – who successfully defended his crown twice with impressive knockout victories, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Again honored the nation was pound for pound king MannyPacquiao. He was named Fighter of the Year in the Espy Awards in conjunction with the NBA stars and other great athletic ability.

Pacquiao VS Marquez

Manny Pacquiao's next fight is official. The Filipino sensation will face old rival and reigning lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Top Rank (Pacquiao's promoter) met today with Marquez and hammered out the deal.

As many know, Golden Boy Promotions had the right to match any competing promoters' offers for a Marquez fight, but GBP simply could not match what Top Rank offered here, though they did try to get creative. When the fight was thought to be Marquez getting $5 million for a 147-pound fight with Pacquiao, they offered $5 million for Marquez to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the same weight.

And when the weight for the fight dipped down to 144 pounds, Golden Boy considered involving Victor Ortiz. Ultimately, nothing was enough, and Golden Boy couldn't reasonably match the latest reported offer, which is $5 million for Marquez at a 144-pound catchweight, with a $10 million payday for a fourth fight between the two if Marquez upsets Pacquiao in November.

Pacquiao Vs Marques

The fight has seemed like a done deal for about a week now, and the initial offer by Top Rank was sent to Golden Boy's lawyers even before Pacquiao faced Shane Mosley on May 7, though Bob Arum and the company refused to publicly discuss the offer. Now it's official, and Arum says that Golden Boy has signed off on everything, according to Steve Kim.

A television outlet has not been officially announced, but one would expect both Showtime PPV and HBO PPV to make serious offers. The world of televised boxing right now is a lot brighter if you're the network with Manny Pacquiao in your corner. If nothing is announced soon, a telling sign could be which network -- if either -- makes a play to air Marquez's scheduled July 2 tune-up fight with David Diaz.

So now that it's a done deal, what's your feeling on this fight?
